Dr. Jim Valentine has practiced general and advanced laparoscopic surgery in Nampa, Idaho for 15 years. He is Board Certified, a member of the ASMBS, the IMA, the AMA, American Academy of Cosmetic Physicians, and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Valentine has been in solo practice in Nampa since December, 2000. His bariatric program started with his first case in September 2001. Since that time he has performed over 450 bariatric cases. All his weight loss surgeries are done at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho (both Dr. Valentine’s office and St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center are Bariatric Centers of Excellence). He also has privileges at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, and Treasure Valley Health South in Boise.
The procedures available with Dr. Valentine’s bariatric program are laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass and the Lap Band. He also offers an on-staff dietician, monthly support group meetings, monthly newsletters and qualified, dedicated staff to assist in the successful outcome of bariatric surgery.
In August of 2008, Dr. Valentine and his staff attended the Keller Medical Institute in Monteray, California, for training in a new technique of liposuction called SmartLipo. SmartLipo is an in-office procedure that is used to melt and remove fat permanently. It is a “fine tuning” procedure, helping patients to reach the final goal of their weight loss—usually that last stubborn 20 pounds. In this way, SmartLipo has been an added benefit for our weight loss surgery patients in that it helps them with the final fat removal and also has the added benefit of skin tightening.
Along those same lines, Dr. Valentine as also recently introduced Botox and Juvederm injectable procedures to his practice. Again, this benefits the post-bariatric surgery patient because after such excessive weight loss, many times patients will have problems with losing volume in the fragile facial skin areas and Botox and Juvederm are a perfect remedy.
Obagi Medical Skin Care Treatment System is also available in our office for those patients who want to take years of damage off the skin on the face. This skin treatment system works to transform skin at the cellular level by addressing the signs of photodamage and restoring the healthy function of skin cells.
Dr. Valentine also offers Latisse. This is a prescription treatment used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker.
